In continuation of its efforts to support local communities affected by the pandemic, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals organized a food donation drive in Colvale, Goa. The drive is part of the Company’s Global Joy of Giving program, an initiative to give back to the society through various interventions and employee engagement.
The ongoing pandemic is posing formidable challenges particularly to disadvantaged and vulnerable communities across India. From the onset of the pandemic, Glenmark Goa has been engaged in continuous efforts to address these issues. Through this latest intervention, Glenmark successfully distributed food essentials such as wheat flour, pulses, jaggery and edible oil to over 1000 families in Colvale, Goa. Glenmark is working closely with government directives and supplementing their efforts through the delivery of these essentials.
Commenting on these efforts, Mr. Pareen Dashottar, Vice President and Site Head, Goa, said, “Community outreach is an integral part of Glenmark’s operations, and has now become an even bigger priority for us during these difficult times. We are engaged on multiple fronts to identify vulnerable populations and those in need of support, and will continue to work with state and village administration to make a difference to the local community.”
Mr. Nityanand Kandolkar, Sarpanch of the Gram Panchayat in Colvale, said, “With food security threatened due to the pandemic, we welcome Glenmark’s efforts to support those most in need of food aid. Glenmark has always found meaningful ways to support our villages, and this outreach is yet another step in this direction.”
The Food Donation Drive was conducted with support from the local village administration, which helped identify families and distribute food aid items.
