For internal consumption of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Glenmark Life Sciences and their employees.

Glenmark successfully transitions from OHSAS 18001:2007 standard to ISO 45001:2018 standard for an improved Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) management

ISO 45001:2018 is a new standard and part of a series of international standards applicable to any organization, anywhere relating to Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) management. It provides a framework and specifies the most important requirements to identify, control and monitor the OHS aspects of any organization and also how to manage and improve the whole system. The implication of this transition is that ISO 45001 concentrates on the interaction between an organization and its business environment while OHSAS 18001 was focused on managing OHS hazards and other internal issues, commitment from top management, participation of workers etc. OHSAS 18001 simply defined an organization’s occupational health and safety policies and objectives. However, the new ISO 45001 helps the organization to create better and safer working conditions.

It is a great feat that all the seven India formulation plants have achieved Common Occupational Health & Safety Management System certification viz., ISO 45001:2018. The certificate is valid for next 3 years. With this, plants have also completed the transition journey from OHSAS 18001:2007 standard to newly introduced ISO 45001:2018 standard.

In-spite of the uncertain situation because of the COVID-19 pandemic, our teams have put in their best efforts and supported the certification body to complete a virtual audit at our sites in 52 man days with the help of 11 auditors.

The certification has been possible with joint efforts of Corporate EHS team and all the seven plant teams, who prepared & implemented the systems as per the requirements of ISO 45001. We really appreciate our site teams for the effective execution of the audit plan with 100% compliance to COVID-19 prevention protocols.
